Matchbox Pictures to co-produce new NBC dramedy

A 13 part NBC dramedy about life at summer camps will be filmed in Australia.

2013-01-07_1930Matchbox Pictures will co-produce a new dramedy series specifically for the US market.

Little Hawk Family Camp is described as a “wicked slice of lake-side heaven. In the one-hour dramedy, parents decompress with gin while teenagers make gleeful mischief and fall in and out of love.”

It has been created by Liz Heldens and Peter Elkoff (Deception, Mercy) and arrives with a 13 episode order from Matchbox partner, NBC.

NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke said, “Most of us have had great experiences at camp, and this show — created by two of our favorite producers, Liz Heldens and Peter Elkoff — is sophisticated, funny, and emotional, and we think it will be the ideal summer series for us.”

The series will be produced by Matchbox Pictures and BermanBraun (USA) with production scheduled to begin in Australia in March.

Matchbox is currently scouting for locations with NSW said to be the front runner at the moment.

  1. Does anyone know if a series like this, commissioned in LA for a US audience, qualify for the Producer’s rebate? NBC are certainly making sure Matchbox “earn their keep”.
