@Jake S: Yes, and Seven doing the same with ‘double-length’ 6pm bulletins in Melbourne too since Monday. It’s not making up any of the lost ratings ground vs Nine’s rival 6pm news – a huge 144k gap between the two on Wednesday night according to OzTAM data – but for my money I reckon the Jennifer Keyte hosted extended versions have been some of the best bulletins Seven Melbourne have transmitted for quite some time.
Seven’s one hour news bulletins (with the odd Today Tonight story subtly thrown in) in Sydney is working for Seven the last few days. They’re obviously for extended bushfire coverage, but I wonder if Seven are looking at dumping TT to help Sydney’s slumping figures from 6pm.
Perhaps they are combining the figures for the 9:30 classic episodes and the 6:30 new episodes of Neighbours?
I sent an email enquiry to TEN about an hour ago.
TEN advised: “Yes, there has been a coding problem which should be fixed today. FYI, looking at the raw data, first-run Neighbours last night did 268,000, five city metro, vs the 150,000 reported by OzTAM.”
It seems there is a coding error with Neighbours, as it would have fourth in the multi-channel ratings according to this: mediaspy.org/forum/index.php?/topic/23341-wednesday-9th-january/page__view__findpost__p__911244
When Grimm returns I bet it ends up on 7mate (along with Warehouse 13 and Alphas). They killed it with the double episodes.
