So was John Howard paid for his 60 Minutes interview?

2013-02-23_0039On 60 Minutes former PM John Howard talks about leadership challenges for both Labor and Liberal. But was he paid for this interview?

Superbugs
No-one would expect an innocuous little cut to threaten your life or cost you all 4 limbs. But that’s exactly what happened to Aimee Copeland, when her body was attacked by an aggressive flesh eating bug. She’s a living example of the rise and rise of superbugs. In this frightening new era in medicine, that our once faithful friends – antibiotics – simply don’t work. And this national health threat is so serious, our Government has now launched three separate Superbug inquiries. But, as Michael Usher discovered, some brilliant scientific minds here and overseas are working fast to find some amazing new cures.

Howard’s Way
By any measure, this is an unusual election year. With more than 200 days till polling day, it’s the longest campaign in Australian history. Then, there’s the growing uncertainty over the leaders. With Prime Minister Julia Gillard languishing ever deeper in the polls, a spectacular comeback by Kevin Rudd is now a very real prospect. And would that force the Liberals to dump Tony Abbott, in favour of the more popular Malcolm Turnbull? If anyone understands the ins and outs of political leadership it is John Howard. Charles Wooley sat down with the former PM to discuss the wild political ride that will be 2013.

Aerosmith
They are America’s biggest and most enduring rock band Aerosmith began life more than 40 years ago and what’s truly impressive is not just that they’re filling stadiums after all these years but that they’re still alive to do it! Now well into their 60’s, singer Steven Tyler and lead guitarist Joe Perry have been the heart-beat of the band. And along the way, they’ve lived a real life rock-opera. It hasn’t always been harmonious but one thing’s for sure – it’s never been dull.

  1. What does it matter if Howard was paid or not?
Though there has been no evidence presented that he was.

Abbott is doing the minimum amount of media appearances possible. He is taking no risks and there is no point in taking attention away from the self destructing Government.

Gillard’s only success has been turning fraud allegations against her into a sexist attack by Abbott the incompetent Bishop which delivered a bump in the polls. No Abbott to slander, and the poll numbers have slumped again.

Wanting to stay on topic, about the Howard interview, regarding if was he paid for it?, such a question is so easily evaded, especially when the Grand Master of the ‘Fine Speak’ (as in fine print) is involved…Perhaps the question asked should be “Has any money or gratuities changed hands in any way for this interview?” ,
But isn’t the real and most important question here is, why is it Mr. Howard and not Mr Abbott, after all we are not being asked to vote for Mr. Howard are we?, and lets face it, does anybody honestly think Mr Howard is going to give frank and fearless unbiased answers against the Liberal Party(not that he would even be faced questions possibly requiring such answers).
But it will be interesting to see how freely he comments about the Labor Party, given no matter what the topic or the aim(ownership) is asked of any Liberal stalwart, it is virtually guaranteed ‘but/unlike labor’ will appear in their first sentence.

Regarding your reply to me, it seems you are prepared to inflict the “Hobson’s Choices” of Mr Abbott and Co.on most of us, because you do not like PM Gillard, but completely contradict it, when {quote} “Not every one can like their boss(leader?) it’s the way of the world”{e/q} ??

  3. What I mean by get real, Byeana, is that all the political commentators and journalists have been saying for ages, that the Labor caucus hates Rudd. But according to the polls, the general population seems to like him. They need to realise it’s not about them, and what they want, it’s about what the rest of the country wants. We are the ones who vote, we are the ones who count. If they don’t like him, well tough. Not everyone can like their boss. it’s the way of the world.

Nor do I want to see anything of the engineer of “Work Choices” or any of his Cronies of his regime, how insulting is it, as today’s taxpayers are funding his grand lifestyle, where he spends our money mostly in the USA , doing his speaking engagements, and then comes back here to Sh_t Stir.

You say, they should suck it up and swallow their pride and beg Mr. Rudd to come back, also you say they need to get real.

In real, do you mean should forget the Leaks and Events that led to the Hung Parliament along with all his disruptions, feeding the Toxic Dummy Spit Reprisals of Mr Abbott, should they forget that this Self Promoting Hero of us the people, where he is now ‘So Anti Labor’, he is even prepared to ensure Mr Abbott is elected.

Perhaps it is us the people who should suck it up, and Not Vote for an Abbott and his “Hobsons Choices”(nee Work Choices) led government that we of the average class, do not deserve and will struggle to survive as we try pay our way.

  5. I really didn’t want to see John Howard on my TV ever again when he stopped being PM. If Labor want to win the next election, they need to suck it up and swallow their pride and beg Kevin Rudd to come back. He is their only hope. They may not like him, but the people do, and it us that count, not them. They need to get real.
