An exciting behind-the-scenes look into the Australian production Jesus Christ Superstar Arena Spectacular, touring Australia in 2013. With Jon Stevens, Andrew O’Keefe, Tim Minchin, Melanie C and Andrew Lloyd Webber.

This is being staged by Frontier Touring from late May (so it’s unlikely this will include any rehearsals) with Ben Forster in the role of Jesus.

Tim Minchin plays Judas, Melanie C. is Mary Magdalene, while Jon Stevens, who previously played the role of Judas, is Pontius Pilate and Andrew O’Keefe steps out as a comic turn in the role of Herod. O’Keefe should be pretty good in this role, hopefully making it closer to the original than Angry Anderson ever did.

It screens at 5pm Sunday March 10 on Seven in Sydney but on 7TWO in Melbourne, so check your local guides.

  1. Thanks for sharing the vid, Sydney2K. Sorry to say, I’m still not enthralled with his voice for that role. Guess I’ve been spoiled with earlier renditions of the role, especially the movie, the CD and Jon Stevens. Voices with some guts behind them, which is usually a nice contrast to the Jesus Christ voice.

  4. One of my favourite musicals! Looking forward to this ‘behind-the-scenes’ look – it will help me to decide whether or not to buy tickets for the show.
