ASTRA Graduate Program 2013

10 individuals from the 2013 ASTRA Graduate Program will each undertake 13 week contract work.

ASTRA_GraduatesASTRA has announced the graduates of its 2013 ASTRA Graduate Program in which 10 individuals will enjoy 13 weeks paid work with STV channels and the Australian Film, Television & Radio School (AFTRS), some of the leading broadcasters in STV have selected graduates of the Foundation Diploma to undertake three month paid work.

Starting in February 2013, each graduate will work for 13 weeks with one of the following STV channels/platforms: Fox Sports Australia, Foxtel, BBC Worldwide Australia, SBS Subscription TV (STUDIO & World Movies), TVSN/Expo Channel, TV1 & SF Channel, Disney Channel and Aurora Community Channel. The positions are across a variety of areas including marketing, programming, acquisitions, production and broadcasting.

The successful candidates of the ASTRA Graduate Program include Emma Hudson, Hamish MacMillan, Jacob Ari-Arrage, Jason Katsoolis, Jessica Lytton, Lauren Sillato, Malina Mackiewicz, Matisse Purinton-Miller, Tansy Gardam and Zoe Adam.

“Now in its third year, the ASTRA Graduate Program is highly visible and provides a great opportunity for individuals to break in to the industry. Many former participants have gone on to work in STV with channels and production companies,” said Petra Buchanan, CEO of the Australian Subscription Television Association (ASTRA).

The ASTRA Graduate Program was initiated to create employment pathways to creative talent in a competitive industry. The short-term positions will provide invaluable experience in the Australian STV industry which is now in its 18th year and continues to be a major contributor to the economy with an estimated 1.4 billion contribution to GDP and $667 million invested in Australian content in FY2012.
