Returning: The Amazing Race

Minor Spoilers. A new season of The Amazing Race begins on 7mate next Sunday.

2013-02-16_2242A new season of The Amazing Race will begin on 7mate at 6:30pm next Sunday night.

This begins in the US tomorrow.

Teams include a pair of country singers, two YouTube hosts, pro hockey-player brothers, firefighters, roller-derby mothers, twin brothers who work together as OB/GYN physicians and a couple who were married only four weeks before the Race started.

The Race also visits Christchurch, home to host Phil Keoghan, hit by earthquakes from 2011 that resulted in 183 deaths.

“This is a great opportunity for us to go back and show the place in a more positive light,” he says, adding: “We’ve got some really cool stuff set up there for the teams.”

They also travel to Bali, Indonesia, Botswana, and Switzerland.

Keoghan also reveals, “We have a switchback coming that’s a classic Amazing Race moment that we’re going to repeat. We know from past experience that this is going to tweak them.”

  1. Woohoo always love the amazing race.
My poor PVR is already overworked on Sunday at that time so I may have to actually try to watch it.
Also pretty sure it being in HD or SD won’t affect the outcome of the race, #justsaying!

  2. Channel 7 has had the Amazing Race on Mate before…seems like it all depends on the content airing on the main channel at that timeframe as when series are aired later in the year they usually get a slot on 7 due to lack of content

  3. Sunday 6.30… not a bad timeslot but will conflict with Modern Family on Ten. Oh well I’ll probably tape MF.

Although hopefully 7mate will keep this show consistent at this timeslot, last time they were showing TAR:US fast-tracked on 7mate they bumped it after only a couple of weeks.

  4. Its great to see them making use of 7mate, although itll have a lot of competition on a Sunday.

I’ve lost interest, personally I think the show has gone a bit stale. Especially when compared with the excellent Amazing Race Australia.

  5. We are disappointed as we only have Pay tv statellte and won’t be able to watch 7 mate as we have no tv line.
Why can’t they show on channel 7? Only wish foxtel able to broadcast all free to air channel is a very near future so we be able to record it.
    Sigh!!

  6. It’s strange that they went to Bali & New Zealand, but didn’t come here, especially since they were so close. Usually when they come down this way they come here too. I read rumours on Twitter that the teams were seen over here running around.

  7. Now 7 needs to lift its game after 9 are putting Survivor just hours after the US. A week was ok a couple of years ago but it’s 2013. 7 should have it on a 3 day delay max

  8. Oh, thank you thank you thank you, I had been waiting anxiously to hear about this. I know it starts tomorrow in the US, but hadn’t heard anything about when we would get it or seen any ads for it. Looks like 7 are taking a leaf out of 9’s book and airing it on their digital channel. Last year was better thought, until the final 2 eps we were getting it 2 days after it aired in the US, now it will be a week.
