Actor Brendan Cowell will direct his first drama series, The Outlaw Michael Howe, about the Australian bushranger Michael Howe commissioned by the ABC.
He describes the story as ”a complex, brutal and somewhat beautiful tale about a British outlaw and the two women he loved.”
To be produced by Cordell Jigsaw Zapruder and Outlawed Films, the project is based on a book, Michael Howe: the Last and Worst of the Bushrangers of Van Diemen’s Land, which was printed in 1818.
Damon Herriman will star as Howe, with the cast including Matt Day, Damon Gameau, Rarriwuy Hick, Mirrah Foulkes and Darren Gilshenan.
No premiere date has been set.
