It’s lights out for Laura Dern’s Enlightened.
HBO has cancelled the drama, co-created by Mike White and Laura Dern, after only two seasons.
“It was a very difficult decision,” HBO said in a statement. “We’ve decided not to continue Enlightened for a third season. We’re proud of the show, and we look forward to working with Mike White and Laura Dern in the future.”
Although this season premiered with 300,000 cable viewers in fell as low as 130,000 viewers.
Last year Dern won a Golden Globe for her role as a self-destructive executive, who, after the implosion of her professional life tries to get her life back together.
It had its finale fast-tracked earlier this month on Showcase, which as it turns out, was also its last ever episode.

This series was painful (yet i watched it?) and have no idea how it got a second season.
Hopefully now she is free to do jurassic park 4!!!
I enjoyed the first season, but thought the second season was really excellent!
It wasn’t a bad place to stop, story-wise, probably better than the usual “flog it to death” that most shows get.
Laura Dern was brilliant in this role!
