Brandon Hantz post meltdown, no docs required.

Despite his kingsize meltdown on Survivor, Brandon Hantz says no psychological assistance was needed.

2013-03-14_2110After his kingsize meltdown on Survivor: Caramoan last week, what happened with Brandon Hantz immediately after the cameras stopped filming?

Not much by the sounds of things. As he tells Reality Ravings, he had a chat with Jeff Probst then went back to the Ponderosa, the base camp they go to after filming.

“Me and Jeff just talked for a little bit about life and how I was feeling. He was really helpful and calming me down. He said ‘Hey I really appreciate you taking the time to play this game, and we really appreciate how much time your family has put into this whole thing.’ It’s a big deal you know, we are investing our lives in something people think it is so easy. It takes a toll on you, mentally, it takes a toll on you physically and even after the game you have to deal with the critics and the people coming up to you and saying I really don’t like the way you played when really it is unnecessary to have an opinion if you have never played before,” he said.

“I went straight to Ponderosa, nothing special happened. People think the doctors surrounded me and saying are you OK. No I just got angry, when you get angry you calm down and you go home.”

Bit surprised there wasn’t more psychological evaluation on offer, even if only as a pre-caution. Maybe he’s just a good actor…

  1. I really think that Brandon should be recommended for anger management counselling. His meltdown was quite scary to witness. I hope for his and every one else’s sakes that he doesn’t come back for a future series. I am enjoying the new Survivor time slot though.

  2. According to this interview with Jeff: insidetv.ew.com/2013/03/14/survivor-caramoan-jeff-probst-brandon-hantz-meltdown/
All Survivors have psychological counselling as soon as they are voted out. So perhaps this is what Brandon meant by nothing special?
