Names in the running for the Director of Television role at the ABC have emerged in the media.
Kim Dalton exited the position last month.
The Sydney Morning Herald claims those in the running include:
Deirdre Brennan, General manager and director of channels, BBC Worldwide.
Matt Campbell, formerly General Manager at Shine Australia and Director of Television at SBS.
Lynley Marshall, CEO of ABC International.
Brendan Dahill, ABC1 Channel Director.
Courtney Gibson, Programming production executive at Nine
Anita Jacoby, formerly with Cordell Jigsaw Zapruder’s
It also reports former TEN exec David Mott declined an approach.

Anita Jacoby is far and away the most experienced among that group. As is Courtney Gibson…

Dierdre would be fantastic, but she is better to stay where she is. The Head of ABC-TV is a poisoned chalice of a job, and she knows it.
Given some of the opinion of some of the regulars here, some of the TVT posters should be forwarding their names as candidates.
Based on that list Mark Scott has to choose between more of the same or introduce innovation and change.
INMHO the TV division needs an injection of fresh energy, fresh ideas the key genre heads need churning so I’d like to see the latter. It will be an opportunity lost for many years if he appoints from within.
