Downton death helps Seven win Sunday

Ratings: The death of a Downton Abbey character wasn't enough to top The Block, but it did help Seven win Sunday.

lady-mary-lady-edithThe death of Sybil Crawley on Downton Abbey wasn’t enough to top the night, that victory went to The Block, but it did help Seven win Sunday night.

Seven network shares were 31.1% then Nine 29.6%, TEN 17.9%, ABC 16.7% and SBS 4.7%.

Numbers would have been impacted by a long weekend in Melbourne and Adelaide but were still relatively strong.

Downton Abbey was best for Seven with 1.29m viewers then Seven News (1.27m), Sunday Night (1.18m), The Force (1.16m), Border Security (1.06m) and Castle (521,000 / 287,000).

The Block: All Stars (1.49m) was #1 for the night as two teams colluded together setting the scene for some drama. Next for Nine were Nine News (1.33m), 60 Minutes (1.2m), The Mentalist (599,000), and CSI (448,000) and CSI: Miami (317,000).

Masterchef was TEN’s strongest outing on 721,000. Elementary was 712,000, Modern Family was 630,000, TEN News was 569,000, Bondi Rescue was 429,000, Graham Norton was 397,000 and The Simpsons was 343,000.

David Attenborough’s Galapagos did well with 918,000 for ABC1 then The Making of David Attenborough’s Galapagos (812,000), ABC News (780,000), Midsomer Murders (773,000), Compass (281,000) and Rev (231,000).

History Cold Case (207,000) topped SBS ONE followed by Wonders of the Solar System (205,000) and World News Australia (154,000).

GO’s The Tourist (249,000) was best on multichannels.
