Easter treats for viewers

What shows will stay on air during Easter non-ratings?

2013-03-14_0026In a little more than a week’s time we head into two weeks of Easter non-ratings -Sunday March 24 – Saturday April 6 to be precise.

On Sunday April 7 we get the Logie Awards and a slew of new shows, particularly many that have been long-promoted by Nine.

Post-Easter Nine has The Voice, The Great Australian Bake-Off, Celebrity Apprentice. The Following is also tipped, whilst we are also awaiting Arrow. There are whispers that Underbelly: Squizzy will come a little later.

Seven has the anticipated A Place to Call Home plus House Rules, Celebrity Splash and Hannibal. As quarter two highlights, they may not arrive immediately.

TEN will have The Biggest Loser, and is yet to schedule Offspring, Reef Doctors, Ripper Street and The Americans.

Meanwhile TV Tonight can confirm some key shows will continue through the Easter period*, if not for all of it, at least for some.

Seven is yet to reveal its plans for a My Kitchen Rules finale but it looks like the show will continue (Seven has a number of TBAs at 7:30pm). Maybe it is planning an April 8 finale to try and spoil The Voice?

Nine has also not revealed its Easter plans. Most Foxtel shows are continuing.

  1. Nine appears to have just been scrambling till the Easter break and launching a new lineup with The Voice afterwards.

They look to be switching entirely to repeats for the non-ratings period. And even pulled a new episode of TBBT the week before non-ratings to save it for “After Easter”.

  2. I’ll believe it when I see it, that they will show new shows during Easter Don’t even know why they take stuff off, it’s only Easter for the weekend.

Don’t know how 9 are going to fit all their reality shows on after Easter. They have The Voice, Celebrity Apprentice & the Bake Off show. Be interesting to see how they stretch them all out.

  3. Last year 7 kept Revenge on for one week. After that it lost nearly 400k live viewer because of Easter, The School Holidays and The Voice starting (though many viewers just switched to recording Revenge).

Revenge and Downton have already suffered dips in the ratings so they will be worried about them losing momentum. Will be interesting to see what happens this year.

Channel 9 will exploit the situation to launch a new lineup after Easter.
