Family, friends remember Peter Harvey.

Family, friends and media remembered Peter Harvey at a private funeral in St Mark's Church in Darling Point this morning.

2013-03-08_1454Family, friends and media remembered Peter Harvey at a private funeral in St Mark’s Church in Darling Point this morning.

The veteran broadcaster died on Saturday after a five-month battle with pancreatic cancer, aged 68.

In attendance were James Packer, Kim Williams, Campbell Reid, Garry Linnell, Ray Martin, Ken Sutcliffe, Karl Stefanovic, Lisa Wilkinson, Ben Fordham, Brian Henderson, Leila McKinnon, Paul Bongiorno, Howard Sacre, John Laws and Alan Jones.

Son Adam Harvey paid tribute to his fatherm remembering, “we were all fooled a little bit by Dad because he lifted you up” – he always looked on the bright side of life and remained hopeful of a cure until the end.

“His life is testament to the overriding power of positive thought.”

A memorial service will be held at 1pm at Sydney Town Hall tomorrow. Harvey’s own report on the site’s restoration was his last, unfinished story.

The memorial will also be simulast on NineMSN.

  2. I never leave comments on any websites etc but Peter Harvey’s graciousness and generous nature compel me to. As a young journalist newly arrived in Sydney I was a little overwhelmed to meet such a legend of the industry. The respect, kindness and patience he showed me made it so much easier. Peter Harvey was a true gentleman. Thinking of his family at this time.
