Hot tip: new Director of TV at ABC

TV Tonight hears whispers that the new Director of Television at the ABC is Richard Finlayson, currently Chief Operating Officer at SBS.

In that role he has been the executive responsible for commercial and operations.

Finlayson has over 20 years’ experience across journalism, TV production, sales, digital distribution and technology. He has previously been Director Commercial Affairs at SBS, Director of Program Acquisitions at XYZ Networks in Pay TV and Managing Director at The Weather Channel.

He began in journalism and has since worked in print media, PR consulting, pay and free TV and digital media.

The position of Director of TV is said to have attracted high calibre candidates including Deirdre Brennan (BBC), Matt Campbell (formerly Shine), and Brendan Dahill (ABC1).

Kim Dalton departed the role at ABC in February.
