MKR overcooking with Sunday episodes

My Kitchen Rules takes on The Voice -but it's high time to wind things up.

2013-03-11_1105My Kitchen Rules will screen a Sunday night episode next weekend, going head to head with the premiere of The Voice.

News Limited reports Seven has filmed ‘secret’ episodes with eliminated contestants, giving one team a chance to return to the Finals.

There’s a lot of confusing messages surrounding MKR lately. Firstly, I don’t really get how Seven can promote this week as Finals week when only one team is eliminated. That’s not even semi-finals. Secondly, the entire series was filmed before episode one even aired (Pete and Manu told me that in January).

Last year the show also added later Sunday episodes, so I suspect this has been part of the plan all along.

The show really feels like it is dragging on too long now. It’s a bit like those Australia’s Got Talent finals that went on forever. They really should be eliminating a team ever night by now, not bringing some back.

I get that this is Seven’s key arsenal against The Voice but I reckon it’s a no-brainer.

The Voice will romp it in.

  1. It’s a shame that they have changed MKR and made it into a popularity contest – it was a nice little cooking show to start with. Obviously the judges are in love with the “Asian Bitches” who have dragged the whole show down to their level. I for one, and most of my friends, will not bother to watch the next series unless saner heads revamp it back to a nice little cooking show it once was!

  2. I LOve MKR can not get enough. The more episodes the better.the contestants this year are excellent.as for the voice it really depends on the quality of the acts.i am so over the buzzer thing

  3. Karise is working on her album and is one of the hightlight acts at this weekend’s bluesfest. I was under the presumption that The Voice is about discovering the talent but not flogging thm around the country with rushed albums and dumb concerts a la Idol days.

  4. OK, The 9:30pm slots are because my TV doesn’t do Day Light Saving ending calculation on the fly.

How big The Voice will be will depend on the quality of its performers and coaches. And if Channel 9 tries to milk it to death like Channel 7 are doing with MKR.

We will find out when the ratings are posted here.

  5. MKR has been going so long that we’ll be seeing births deaths and marriages of the contestants. I gave up after the home events but the program has a real meanness that I try to avoid even if it is hard to look away sometimes, so it was a conscious decision to drop it. I also think the bitch girls are actresses.

  6. I did watch the first night hype of TBL, next I will watch the last night, that way I will see the original weigh ins’ and the final weigh outs on the one night, without all the pain in between, except for a countless number of promos that is.

Do TBL still have the stupid temptation nights, if so?, its a shame that MKR is all done and dusted, otherwise they could have ganged up on The Voice, and have joint venture nights where MKR cooked up the temptations for the TBL’s..
