A Current Affair reporter Nick Coe is leaving Nine after 17 years with the network.

2013-03-08_1208TV Tonight can reveal A Current Affair reporter Nick Coe is leaving Nine.

Coe joined Nine in 1996, covering stories in Chile, Thailand, Sri Lanka, China, the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, Bali bombings, the Port Arthur massacre, Melbourne’s underworld killings, the murder of Jaidyn Leskie, Sydney to Hobart yacht race, bushfires and was the first television journalist to report live from Beaconsfield in Tasmania.

He joined A Current Affair in 2007.

In a statement to colleagues today he said, “I’ve been lucky enough to spend nearly 17 years at the Nine Network. In that time I’ve worked with some of the best television professionals in this country. I’ll always be grateful for that.

“To cover sometimes extraordinary events from all over Australia and many other parts of the world has been a real privilege. To have the trust of viewers to bring them that coverage has been an honour.

“But given that I started my cadetship in 1986, it’s time to have a think about what is next in my career.

“I will dearly miss the people at Channel Nine I’ve worked with for so long. I thank them from the bottom of my heart. But I leave with a sense of enormous pride and achievement at the television we’ve made together over such a long time.”

A Nine spokesperson said Coe’s exit was not part of Nine Entertainment redundancies which were announced in February.

  1. When I worked at Nine a few years ago, my dry-cleaning was mixed up with Nick Coes, and we didn’t know until he tried to put my trousers on and they didn’t fit. Since then i’ve often told friends that Nick has been in my pants lol.

  2. it seems to me that there has been very little on air talent that has been affected by the Nine staff redundancies and debt cut backs. could be a different story behind the front desk?

  3. I guess when you have covered major stories from all those exotic locations and then your brain starts rotting away with the daily drivel of ACA, you know you can’t go any lower, so it is time to leave….. good luck mate I hope you brain recovers
