NRL game delayed in Queensland

Queensland will have to wait an extra hour to see the opening Roosters-Rabbitohs round one clash on Thursday.

2013-03-04_1238Blame Daylight Saving, or blame The Block, either way Queensland NRL fans will have to wait an extra hour to see the opening Roosters-Rabbitohs round one clash on Thursday night.

The game kicks off at 8:05pm at Allianz Stadium and Nine will screen it from 8pm in New South Wales.

But due to Daylight Saving, it won’t start in Queensland until 8pm, which is 9pm AEDT, because The Block screens from 7pm.

The Footy Show (NRL) follows at 9:45pm in both states, but again is only live in NSW.

  1. I live in Perth we get the NRL live but only on GEM. I love Ray doing NRL on channel 9 with out him it not NRL and why can’t channel 9 do to games Friday one Saturday afternoon one Saturday night and one Sunday.

Hope Melbourne storm win this year

  2. I wish all states would abandon daylight savings, it is pointless ever since the widespread availability of electricity. I was in SA last week and the sun was not setting until after 8pm, with most shops closing at 5pm and pretty much all businesses closed before sunset it is a very weird ghost town sensation.

  3. Really are we surprised! This is the internationally acclaimed wide world of sports as mentioned by Mr Jeffery Browne last week in relation to the cricket. Gyngell shame on you..

  4. Very very poor from nine .. Absolutely no reason why gem couldn’t be used to show the block or league for a couple of weeks. The nrl really should have been more specific about what they actually required a broadcaster to deliver apart from the cash

  5. I thought Fox would have gone for all games live in this tv rights deal, a la the AFL.
It is typical free to air lately.
Do find it weird QLD is one of the two main markets for the NRL, they don’t get it live, yet I do in Tasmania!!

  6. Wasn’t surprised to see it delayed but it has ticked me off. Typical from nine though, they’ve been doing it for years. So I blame the NRL. They’re the ones that never bothered to care about the fans in the recent broadcast deal.

  7. I wonder if the NRL can now see why there was such an outcry by fans for Nine not to get the rights last year. I love the NRL, but if they are stupid enough to not have taken a note from the AFL’s playbook and organised a deal for all games to be live on FOX Sports than they deserve what is coming to them.

  8. Wow. Didn’t see this coming. I thought nine would do the right thing by the viewers in the new broadcast deal. LOL.

Another 5 years of rubbish treatment by nine. Looking forward to it.

  9. Oh dear looks like fans were right in saying ch9 will continue to rape the game. For those of you wanting to watch ch 9 delayed games live you have no option but to resort to other means. Power to the people.
