One Plus One: David Williamson

Playwright David Williamson is the guest tomorrow on ABC’s interview show on One Plus One.

Williamson talks about his influences, achievements and his latest play about Rupert Murdoch “Rupert”, which opens in Melbourne in August.

“My role model for my play “Rupert” is Shakespeare’s Richard the Third,” David Williamson tells One Plus One’s presenter Jane Hutcheon. “Whatever I think of Rupert privately, I tried to toss aside and I tried to say this is a fascinating character. How did this guy, who was bequeathed a failing Adelaide afternoon newspaper by his father, the only thing he was bequeathed, become the most powerful media voice in the world? It’s a remarkable story.”
