Producer bashed in road rage incident

A producer with WTFN was the victim of a road rage incident in western Melbourne yesterday.

2013-03-13_1302Wayne Dyer, a producer with WTFN (The Living Room, Trishna & Krishna: Separate Lives) was the victim of a road rage incident in western Melbourne yesterday.

3AW reports he was driving along the Western Highway near Deer Park when he noticed the driver ahead of him flicking ash out his car window.

Dyer, a former Nine News reporter, confronted the man reminding him it was a total fire ban day.

“He told me in very choice language to get lost, so I made the split-second decision to get out of the car and approach him,” Dyer told host Neil Mitchell.

“He then knelt over me and landed another 10 to 12 vicious punches to my temple and the top of the head, leaving me in a pretty bad state.

“Next thing you know I’m standing in the middle of the Western Highway with blood dripping from my face…but nobody stopped and asked me if they should call 000.”

Update: Piter Rumlaklak, 26, of Melton West, appeared in Melbourne Magistrates Court on Thursday to face three charges, including recklessly and intentionally causing serious injury.

Rumlaklak’s lawyer Peter Wilkins said Mr Dyer may also be charged over the incident.

“There may be charges pending against the complainant of a similar nature,” Mr Wilkins said.
