Seven reveals Celebrity Splash cast

Josh Thomas, Nick Bracks, Laura Csortan & Andrew Symonds join Seven's diving show.

2013-03-20_012914 personalities have been revealed as the cast for Seven’s upcoming Celebrity Splash.

The Daily Telegraph reveals them as: “socialite Brynne Edelsten, former cricketer Andrew Symonds, track diva Tamsyn Lewis, comic Josh Thomas, retired swimmer Leisel Jones, big-wave surfer Koby Abberton, soap starlet Demi Harman, TV veteran Denise Drysdale, Melbourne radio host Adam Richard, AFL identity Andrew Welsh, TV presenter Laura Csortan, pageant queen Renae Ayris, actor Paul Fenech and male model Nick Bracks.”

Executive producer Steve Murray defended the lack of A-List stars who were reluctant to appear:

“There’s their image. Then there’s their body image, not to mention the fear factor … if it goes wrong the reality is it’s extremely dangerous. It’s asking a lot of our talent,” he said.

Diver Matthew Mitcham is also tipped to be a show judge.

A host is yet to be announced, with Jules Lund’s name on the rumour list.

The UK series attracted negative reviews but good ratings and has been renewed for a second season. The US version launches today.

  1. Oh my god, just when you thought reality tv couldn’t get any worse. What on earth was Channel 7 thinking!?! This is the biggest load of garbage tv I’ve ever come across!!!!

  2. I don’t think its likely to do well here, just a feeling. I don’t really understand what the appeal is to encourage me to watch celebrities diving. But if this is on when Celebrity Apprentice, well it could be a ploy to get ratings from Channel Nine. Not likely though; CA should do better than this tripe. I won’t be watching either, so it looks like I’ll be looking to see what’s on Ten, ABC or SBS.

  3. This could possibly be the worst tv show of its kind on the air since the horrible ‘Hole In the Wall’ on Nine a few yrs back. I will probably check out the first epsode though as i just can’t resist ‘car crash’ telly, so bad it has to be entertaining. What a waste of money though, which could be better spent on some quality productions.

  4. I once watched television, that had actors and there was a story to be told.

Now the best television has to offer is people we dont care about doing things such as cooking…building…losing weight.. dancing..singing…and now we have to go one better and watch them jump in to a pool????

Someone pass a paint tin and brush as i am going to paint a wall and record it drying you can catch in 2014!

  5. Channel 7 you have dominated the ratings the last few years. You have bought in outstanding shows then you go and put on this.

Seriously. However I think Denise Drysdale would be hilarious on this. I always thought she should be on DWTS.

The less we see of Brynne the better.

  6. Unless they take the cameras into the change rooms and produce a Celebrity Splash Uncut or Celebrity Splash Up-Late I can’t see this working.

  7. What a great line up of celebrities, all desperate for that media attention that will come with the hype. Good to see Josh Thomas sporting his awkward pose.

  8. When it’s Josh Thomas’s turn to dive he will just stand there on the board looking awkward for several minutes, then the show will end. A bit like Please Like Me.

  9. @Beckala – “…what do they fill the airtime with?”
Exactly. There will be a lot of filler.

This show is not for me but, y’know, good luck to them. People that don’t like to think too much about their TV will prob happily sit thru the recaps, heightened drama, and other guff to see the dive at the end.

  10. Im not sure where this misconception has come from that this show “belly flopped” in the UK. It was ITV’s most successful entertainment show launch in about 5 years and has been commissioned for another series.
Where I think our version may come undone is that with the number of “stars” involved, its probably going to go for 10 weeks or so,whereas the ITV version only went for 5. I would have thought with a show like this, a shorter run would probaby be the better.
Any word on host or coach? Matthew Mitcham would have to be odds on for the coach role, surely?
