Sydney guys on TV

They are the men from Sydney who bring us the news.

imageJust a month after their photoshoot of female newsmakers in the Sydney market, the Sunday Telegraph now brings us the blokes in front of the cameras.

Assembled in this photograph of 32 men are such names as Stan Grant, Ryan Liddle, Terry Willesee, Joe O’Brien, Ross Coulthart, Peter Overton, Jeremy Fernandez, Chris Uhlmann, Brad McEwan, Ken Sutcliffe, Andrew O’Keefe, Anton Enus, Mat Doran, David Speers, Hamish Madonald, Cameron Williams, Jim Wilson, Mark Ferguson, David Campbell, Larry Emdur, Michael Usher, Hugh Riminton and, from Melbourne, Michael Rowland.

The photo was taken a week before the death of Peter Harvey, clearly too ill to appear. Yet despite this News Limited has managed to attach quotes to the story in which the men all condemn the media reforms, which only emerged last week.

Still, it’s a great photo opportunity.

  1. How very low of News Ltd to turn this into a tool to suit their agenda. And Murdoch wonders why the government are wanting to introduce new media laws.

  2. I refer you to an article by Michael Rowland in The Drum this morning on how the Telegraph turned this into an anti-Conroy legislation rant when it was nothing of the sort.

I don’t think links are allowed here.

  3. LOL everyone’s looking the other way, mucking up or chatting to other people… except for the studs, Hamish at the back, and Matt Doran in the middle, both with perfect poses.

  4. Read The Daily Telegraph story, & they’ve got the numbers attached plus quotes for Ryan Liddle & Kris Flanders the other way around. Me thinks not a lot of NITV News is watched at Holt Street? PS: how did Michael Rowland sneak in there? He’s as Melbourne as a Tram Route 3 down St Kilda Road! 😉

  5. “I know this is your blog site David, but if the same photo had been taken with all the men of news I doubt it would have the title “Sydney Boys on TV.”

No need to be a smart ar*e about it. And I think you’ll find your title proves I was correct in some respects.

I wasn’t trying to make a big thing of it, I just added my 2 cents and was rather respectful.

But like I said, it is your blog after all….. And I’ll continue to read/frequent it.

    🙂

    1. Guys and Girls, Men and Women, Girls and Boys, Men and Ladies… like I said, there was nothing intended nor disrespectful in any of the headlines. And I reckon my title proves the point too. 😉

  6. In the Tele article “Frangopoulous said. ” Sky News has diverse ownership…” Huh?
33% Seven, 33% Nine, 33% BSkyB which is 39% News Corp, on Foxtel which is 50% News Corp.

    1. No Kochie, no Karl…I’m sure these are just availability issues.

And I trust the person last month who suggested my headline about “Sydney girls” was disrespectful is now satisfied I am perfectly equitable and was implying nothing….

  7. Wow! Last time with the womens photo, I think i recognised all but 2 or 3 ladies… this time i know barely half of these fellas!
If they’re sports commentators though, that could be why! (I don’t watch sport)
Pity they chose to use a shot where a couple of the faces were covered up
