The Bridge, based on the Scandinavian drama which screened here on SBS, is set to premiere in Australia in July 2013.

Starring Academy Award® Nominee Demián Bichir and Diane Kruger, The Bridge is an adaptation from the international hit series Bron and a co-production of Shine America and FX Productions. The series centers on two detectives, one from the United States and one from Mexico, who must work together to hunt down a serial killer operating on both sides of the US-Mexican border.

FOX International Channels has also struck a deal with Endemol for Low Winter Sun, the 10 episode crime series ordered in December by AMC, acquiring exclusive first pay TV window rights for the show outside of the US, Canada and France. Low Winter Sun is set to premiere across the group’s entertainment channel portfolio of 200 pay TV networks to audiences in 120 countries, including Australia, in 2013.

Written and executive produced by Chris Mundy (Criminal Minds, Cold Case), Low Winter Sun is a contemporary story of murder, deception, revenge and corruption in a world where the line between cops and criminals is blurred. Low Winter Sun begins with the murder of a cop by a fellow Detroit detective. Seemingly the perfect crime, in reality, the murder activates forces that will forever alter the detective’s life, and pull him into the heart of the Detroit underworld.

The series is based on the 2006 award-winning British two-part mini-series of the same name written by Simon Donald and produced by Tiger Aspect Productions (an Endemol Company). Mark Strong (Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, Zero Dark Thirty) stars as Detroit detective Frank Agnew alongside co-star Lennie James (Hung, The Walking Dead, Jericho).

  1. just came along this article. It would have been nice if SBS had rights to this version of The Bridge too. I hope it’s as good as the original. A shame i don’t have pay tv. Bummer.
