The Ellen has landed

In case you hadn't heard, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have landed in Sydney.

2013-03-22_1146In case you hadn’t heard, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have landed in Sydney, several days later than initially planned.

The US TV talk show host earlier arrived at Sydney Airport, greeted by a roaring crowd of cheers, wolf-whistles and the Qantas choir singing the Men at Work classic Down Under, before a quick chat with waiting fans.

The talk show queen’s Qantas A380 had been specially renamed after the star for her flight, with her entourage all soaking the delights of first class, including a specially prepared vegan menu by chef, Neil Perry.

The Ellen crew have checked into a penthouse suite at Sydney’s Intercontinental Hotel.

Even Julia Gillard tweeted: “Welcome to Australia @TheEllenShow. Hope you get to see as much as possible of our beautiful country. JG”

Ellen cleverly tweeted:
¡ɐılɐɹʇsn∀ oʇ ʇı ǝpɐɯ I

She later boarded a Sydney Ferry. No luxury yacht or speed boat, posse boarded the Borrowdale – a 1985 steel twin catamaran vessel owned and operated by Sydney Ferries Corporation.

She is due to meet Sydney fans tomorrow, at various locations around the city. A cocktail party in Melbourne, originally planned for last Tuesday, will now take place next Tuesday.

  1. I thought everybody loves Ellen?! 🙁

I agree with daveinprogress – her name goes further than just her daytime show.

I’m so glad she’s having a great time!

  2. Cheer up you sad sacks! I’m thrilled someone as talented and well loved as Ellen gets to experience our great little country at the bottom of the world

  3. @deedeedragons

I agree, she is fine, her show is typical daytime US tv fodder. I never know, quite what to make of her “dancing”, it is on par with my “dad dancing” which is baaaad….real baaad and not in a good way

…and all the fawning ugh ugh ugh, would any other PM in another country get sucked in by this nonesense. Over 22 million ausssies do not watch her show and yet all this PR BS….oh well it will soon be over and forgotten, a bit like Oprah (still haven’t seen all those tourists that she promised)
