2013-04-14_0026The History Channel will premiere Oliver Stone: Untold History of the US, directed, narrated and produced by writer/director Oliver Stone for Showtime (US).

Ahead of the controversial series, SKY News presenter Stan Grant interviewed Oliver Stone and historian Peter Kuznick. This will air on SKY News Saturday April 20 at 2.30pm with a repeat at 9.30pm AEST.

The controversial ten-part documentary series, co-written by American historian Peter Kuznick, covers the last 60 years of American history, focusing on the dramatically under-reported events of the era that shaped the United States of the 20th and 21st centuries.

From the atomic bombing of Japan to the Cold War, to the fall of Communism right through to the first Obama administration, this in-depth, surprising, and riveting piece of television reveals a classified America that we were never meant to see.

Stone explained his reason behind making such a controversial series.

“Frankly, one has to wake up to life. I decided, look, before I go, I’ve got to get something down that I feel is what happened in my lifetime,” said Stone.

The series also includes newly discovered facts from the Kennedy administration and the Vietnam War, and looks at how America achieved its current global role post-Cold War.

Tuesday, April 23 at 7.30pm AEST.
