Airdate: What Would Ryan Lochte Do?

Here comes the new reality show starring US Olympic swimmer and himbo, Ryan Lochte ...and there's just no escaping it.

2013-04-23_1200I’m just waiting until somebody on Celebrity Splash utters the words, What Would Ryan Lochte Do? (I’m looking at you, Adam Richard).

That’s the name of the new reality show starring US Olympic swimmer and himbo, Ryan Lochte and there’s no escaping it once it starts on E! next month.

You have been warned.

Whether winning a handful of Olympic medals at the 2012 London Games, setting a new benchmark for partying, or designing his own line of over-the-top sneakers, Ryan Lochte is a lightning rod personality whose buzz-worthy life appears made for television. E!’s new six-part series will give viewers an exclusive look into the superstar athlete’s life as he prepares for the Rio games in 2016 while building his fashion line, making buzz-worthy media appearances, dealing with his unconventional family and, always, searching for “the one.” “What Would Ryan Lochte Do?” premieres Tuesday, May 28 at 9:00pm AEST only on E!

In answer to the show’s central question, it turns out 28-year-old Lochte would do just about anything for love, for family, for his friends and for the embodiment of his personal philosophy, which is summarised in his signature phrase, “Jeah!”

In “What Would Ryan Lochte Do?” the self-proclaimed King of Gainesville, Florida, lives life just like he swims – at top speed. Lochte hits the club scene frequently, always on the hunt for the girl of his dreams. Regardless of how hard he parties, Lochte is always up early the next day for his rigorous training session with tough-as-nails coach, Gregg Troy. Perhaps surprising will be the swimmer’s design aspirations and his huge collection of shoes – 150 pairs of sneakers to be exact. This includes the bright green high-tops he designed which has ‘Ryan’ emblazoned in the sole of one and Lochte in the other.

Peppered throughout the show are those unpredictable, unfiltered and delightfully uninhibited “Lochteisms” for which he has already become legend. Through all the craziness, Lochte remains grounded with the help of a loving, outspoken family. His mother, Ike, is his unofficial life coach, giving advice on everything from swimming to dating. Lochte’s younger brother Devon is his best friend while his older sisters, Kristen and Megan are on hand to both counsel and tease him.

  1. I would like to see a game-changer in Reality TV, by having a show about someone who is actually interesting and intelligent.

The rich and stupid theme should’ve ended with Paris Hilton.

  2. saw him on Ellen, cringeworthy. it looked like ellen and matthew perry wanted to laugh at how slow he was.

will not be watching this one. would rather have seen a show on swimmer nathan adrian.

  3. Hope he is picking up a nice pay cheque here because he risks turning from respected sportsman (who always came across far better in swimming related interviews than Phelps) to, well, a complete pratt.

  4. I saw an interview with him over the weekend. I have no idea what the hell he was on about. He is literally the male version of Jessica Simpson

  5. I meet Ryan at the Chelsea Lately taping last week and he is a himbo but to his credit he does not take himself too seriously…

I’ve seen the first 2 episodes and it is car-crash TV. I can see it becoming my guilty TV pleasure
