Big Kev returning to The Biggest Loser

Big Kev is returning to The Biggest Loser, but will it be enough to lift ratings?

2013-04-18_1030In Reality TV you never really exit the show…

Big Kev, the heaviest contestant in worldwide The Biggest Loser history at a debilitating 254 kilograms, returns to the show next week.

Will it be enough to return ratings to the show?

Sunday 21 April, 7.30pm
Last chance training heats up as the parents worry if their kids done enough this week. Or have they taken their foot off the gas without their parents there to egg them on? With broken toenails and knee injuries, Hayley throws a curve ball at the weigh-in, announcing that only one person’s weight from each team will count towards their total. Will it be the kid or the parent?

Monday 22 April, 7.30pm
With family teams restored, everyone heads into the first training session of the week… before The Fridge throws a curve ball. Inside The Fridge, the winners find a note that says “Choose five contestants to go home”. Jaws drop as the contestants try to come to terms with the thought that five of them are leaving.

Tuesday 23 April, 7.30pm
Relationships are tested tonight as a contestant confides to Michelle that their loved one isn’t pulling their weight and they’re sick of it.

  1. I think the show is in need of a major revamp if it is to return in 2014. The show has the ability to be a hit but time and time again the contestants are awful and not at all inspiring – I would love to see them go back to the types of contestants they had when Bob won they were all nice relatable people who you wanted to watch and become invested in this hasn’t been the case for the last few years.

I can see it being both axed and revived to be honest I guess only time will tell it will be sad to see it off the air but unless something drastic is changed ten will be flogging a dead horse!

  2. For those who don’t watch the show – the week after Kevin was eliminated involved a lot of challenges he wouldn’t have been able to take part in. In fact the next episode after he was eliminated involved abseiling which he wouldn’t have been able to do due to his sheer size (all of the other contestants could as they’re nowhere near 200kg). There was also a canoeing challenge which I can’t imagine he could have been in. So his exit was probably rigged so as to have him return as opposed to standing around watching lighter people do stuff.

  3. I knew this was going to happen. Ratings went down after Kevin left and they wouldn’t let him leave early because he’s the heaviest contestant in worldwide Biggest Loser.

I’m guessing the loved one in Tuesday’s episode is Anita from the yellow team. I’m so sick of her daughter making up excuses.

  4. The problem for me with TBL this season is that the parents are the ones that are ultimately responsible for having fat kids and hence fat adults and spin their back stories as they will I can’t find any empathy for the parents. They just make me angry.

  5. @ryan
Thanks and I hope so to and they need to show it at 7.30 Sundays and tbc for the rest
    @Armchair Analyst
I checked up on wiki and there is still a Biggest Loser US

  6. I actually think this show has had it. How many more spin offs can it generate, before its axed? David is the US version still running in the US or has it been axed.

  7. Yeah Ten will def renew this one. They know It can pull figures if it hasn’t got 2 gang buster shows against it. Maybe next yr they will use their brain and return it to 7pm weeknights!!

  8. What’s the point eliminating him 2 weeks ago only to bring him back, pointless. He really needs to pull his finger out if he expects to survive even a week

  9. I don’t think you are right David as this show will get renewed considering it pulls 500,000 which is a ratings hit for TEN but time will tell and it all depends on how the GF rates

  10. in doing this aren’t they admitting that the TBL format with eliminations is critically flawed and contradicting its philosophies?

anyway there was a lot of interest in kevin, if TBL survives after this season could the next version be TBL:Massive Fatties? that was proposed for the american version but never went ahead. they were to invite back applicants that were previously turned away for being too overweight for the show.

  11. Sammee- I think that is what these contestants need. Weight loss is a long term proposition. These contestants get booted and go back to their old ways making their appearance about ratings and hardly about education…. Oh hang on

  12. It won’t be enough. TBL gets decent enough ratings when MKR and The Voice arent on. Maybe the show will do better on Thursday, Friday and Sunday.

  13. I think it’s good that Kevin is returning to the house, hopefully to get the help he needs. I would prefer that no-one goes home each week instead have a points system where we could see them all go to the end and really determine who is the biggest loser. Just a thought…
