Dance Academy win at Chicago festival

ABC3's Dance Academy has won Best Children’s Series at the 2013 Chicago International Film Festival.

2013-04-23_1330ABC3’s Dance Academy has been awarded the Gold Plaque for Best Children’s Series at the 2013 Chicago International Film Festival Television Awards.

It’s the latest in a growing swag of awards for the series following the  Most Outstanding Children’s Program at the 2013 Logie Awards, and a Bronze World Medal at The New York Festival’s 2013 Television & Film Awards.

Recently Producer Joanna Werner picked up the Children’s Television Producer of the Year at the SPAA Independent Producer Awards 2012. Dance Academy also has wins from the Australian Writer’s Guild Awards, Kidscreen Awards in New York  and a Highly Commended nod as Best Children’s Series at the 2012 Asian Television Awards.

The show, which screens in over 135 countries around the world, returns with new episodes mid-year.

In Dance Academy 3 Tara and her friends are now seniors at the Academy and no one can forget for a second that the Company is watching. It will be a nail-biting chase to the finish line to see who will be offered a contract and finally achieve what they have been working towards for so long… and who will have to find a new dream.

If Second Year broke your heart, this is the year that will lift you up and prove it is in risking everything, failing spectacularly and then starting again, that you will become extraordinary. Tara and her friends began their training as kids with a lot to learn about dancing, life and themselves. This year will prepare them to say goodbye to their school days forever and go out into the world as resilient, courageous dancers and young adults. Who are ready for anything.
