Dr Who forum: May

In May Dr. Who aficionados discuss the 5th Doctor, the cricket-and-celery-loving Peter Davison.

2013-04-27_0020In May writer John Richards (Outland), comedian Ben McKenzie (Dungeon Crawl) and actor/singer Petra Elliot (Melbourne Museum Comedy Tour) have two live Melbourne shows coming up in their Splendid Chaps series.

The first is a special event as part of Darebin Libraries’ Geek Week. In Who & Books they’ll be joined by editor and Joy 94.9 broadcaster Katie Purvis and author and critic Dave Hoskin to discus the importance of the written word in (and around) Doctor Who. There’ll also be a special performance by comedian Lawrence Leung (ABC1’s Choose Your Own Adventure and Unbelievable). That’s on Saturday May the 4th (and may the fourth be with you!) at Northcote Library at 4.30pm.

Then on Sunday May 19th they’ll be celebrating the era of the 5th Doctor, the cricket-and-celery-loving Peter Davison, and exploring the notion of Fear in Doctor Who. When is Doctor Who scary, and why? Guests will include comedian Tegan Higginbotham (from comedy duo Watson and The Comedy Channel’s Whatever Happened To That Guy?) and horror author Narrelle M Harris. That’s at The Public Bar, 238 Victoria Street, North Melbourne, at 5pm.
