Marc Fennell to host The Feed for SBS

Marc Fennell has been announced as host of SBS 2’s news and current affairs program.

mfenMarc Fennell has been announced as host of SBS 2’s news and current affairs program, The Feed.

Fennell is best known as a film critic, radio host, author and all-round media mischief maker from Hungry Beast and The Circle. He previously appeared as a DVD reviewer on The Movie Show for SBS.

Set to launch as a a 15-minute weeknight program in late May, The Feed will combine news of the day, topical commentary, pop culture and in-depth features adding a fresh perspective on the latest local and international headlines.

It currently appears as 60-second newsbreaks on SBS 2.

SBS previously announced Patrick Abboud and Jeannette Francis as part of The Feed line up, and recently added Andy Park from World News Australia as a reporter.

Executive Producer Nick Hayden said, “Marc is a perfect fit for the role with extensive experience presenting and producing. He has a well-established profile as a pop-culture and tech guru, and current affairs commentator, and is hugely popular with SBS 2’s target demographic of 16-39 year olds.

The Feed aims to take news broadcasting to a new level and we’re excited to have Marc come on board to be a part of the team.”

Marc is best known as ‘That Movie Guy’, providing unique and witty film reviews on Triple J, ABC radio and various television programs. He currently hosts ABC radio’s Download This Show, which is the number one technology podcast in Australia. Marc’s previous television work includes presenting, producing and reporting for three seasons of provocative current affairs program Hungry Beast. He has interviewed countless filmmakers, actors, musicians and writers and is also the author of That Movie Book.

Marc joins a team of multi-skilled journalists who delve behind the daily news stories to report, produce, and create content relevant to younger audiences, in a fresh and innovative way.

Andy comes to The Feed from SBS World News Australia where, as a multimedia journalist, he filed stories for TV and online, on everything from space mining, internet racism, artificial intelligence and gambling addiction. He spent his early career as a radio presenter and music director at Austereo‘s Fox FM, before leaving to pursue journalism. He worked as a freelance writer in the UK before returning to Australia to work for Fairfax Media’s The Age.

  1. When he was on this year’s Tropfest, it took me five minutes to work out who he was. He looks like a completely different man to his Hungry Beast & Movie Show days!
