Renewed: Jack Irish

TV Tonight can reveal Guy Pearce will revive the role of Jack Irish for the ABC once again.

Pearce will begin filming another telemovie Dead Point, by writer Peter Temple, mid year.

Also set to reprise their roles are Marta Dusseldorp, Aaron Pedersen and Roy Billing.

Guest cast are yet to be confirmed.

Essential Media are currently filming Temple’s mini-series The Broken Shore in Melbourne and Port Fairy, ahead of fillming Dead Point.

There have also been negotiations for another Jack Irish novel, White Dog.

Producer Ian Collie previously said, “A stand alone, one-off telemovie is quite a hard sell. What would be better is to pitch it as a franchise such as Rebus or Wallander. That’s what executives want.

“So we optioned four Jack Irish books. There are two that we are introducing and hopefully we’ll do the other two, and he has a fifth as a work in progress. The game plan is to do all five as aJack Irish suite of telemovies.”
