Wentworth sold to UK

FremantleMedia has sealed broadcast rights for Wentworth to Channel 5 in the UK.

Katie Keenan, Channel 5′s Head of Acquisitions, said: “Wentworth will be a great addition to Channel 5′s drama output this autumn. This compelling cast of female characters packs an emotional punch and will appeal to the Channel 5 viewers who love our range of crime output from dramas to factual series”

While Justin Hatfield, FremantleMedia International’s Senior Vice-President of Sales for the UK, Eire & Scandinavia, added, “I’m thrilled to bring this gripping series to UK audiences on Channel 5, a channel that has such a strong reputation for diverse drama content.”

The much-anticipated show, already sold to NZ, begins on SoHo tomorrow night and premieres in the UK later this year.

There are also whispers of a German remake.
