Equity Ensemble Awards: winners

The ensembles of three ABC productions have been recognised by their fellow actors.

2ddstThree ABC shows have been named as winners in the Equity Ensemble Awards, voted by actors who are members of the MEAA union.

They are:

Redfern Now (Drama series)
Devil’s Dust (Telemovie / miniseries)
A Moody Christmas (Comedy series)

“2012 was yet another fantastic year for Australian television. Their awesome individual performances notwithstanding, Australian actors once again demonstrated the art of the ensemble, showing audiences that the whole is sometimes greater than the sum of its parts,” said Equity president Simon Burke.

“To be voted the best of best by your peers – fellow actors who know what it takes to craft a fine performance – is a huge honour. Given the calibre of this year’s finalists the casts of A Moody Christmas, Redfern Now and Devil’s Dust should be very proud.”

“Our local shows just get better and better, as demonstrated by the surge in international interest. Let’s make sure we keep them coming and keep Australian stories on our screens,” said Equity director Sue McCreadie.

The awards were sponsored by Foxtel and ABC TV. Winners will be honoured with at a ceremony in Sydney on May 20, 2013.

OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE BY AN ENSEMBLE IN A DRAMA SERIES AWARD
WINNER:
Redfern Now

OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE BY AN ENSEMBLE IN A TELEMOVE OR MINI-SERIES
WINNER:
Devil’s Dust
Mirrah Foulkes, Don Hany, Anthony Hayes, Genevieve Hegney, Ewen Leslie, Alexandra Schepisi.
