Oliver, who recently visited Australia, has worked on the show for seven years as both as a writer and presenter.

He begins as host from June 11. He is also confirmed as host for a fourth season of John Oliver’s New York Stand-Up Show, the third season will premiere exclusively on The Comedy Channel in July 2013.

As long time host of The Daily Show Jon Stewart gears up for his hiatus, guest host John Oliver prepares to take the chair. The Daily Show hosted by John Oliver will premiere exclusively and Express from the US, weekdays at 7.00pm from Tuesday, June 11 only on The Comedy Channel.

The guests in Oliver’s first week will include Seth Rogen (This Is The End, Knocked Up, Superbad), Armando Iannucci (VEEP writer), Mavis Staples (singer), and Fareed Zakaria (Vice producer).

Oliver has worked at The Daily Show for seven years as both as a writer and presenter and has proven himself a wry and clever comedian. He recently caused a stir for describing Australia as “comfortably racist” and for his controversial interview with former Prime Minister John Howard about gun control during a Daily Show segment.

Oliver will steer The Daily Show ship until early September when Jon Stewart returns to the helm, after a break to be spent directing his first feature film Rosewater. Recently Oliver was quoted saying, “Don’t worry, it’s still going to be everything that you love about The Daily Show, just without the thing that you love the most about it.”

Weekdays at 7.00pm from Tuesday, June 11 on The Comedy Channel.
