considering Australia’s economy is (literally this is a fact) in the top countries in the first world, better than the US and the UK, I’m not too fussed about this “distraction” not to mention boat people is an issue nobody can well and truly judge progress on until the Coalition walk the walk instead of talking the same old talk they have for 4 years after they, how you say “get into power”

  2. @Craig – If all of the “boat people” were put into the MCG it still wouldn’t be full. How happy I am that I live in Australia’s economy than in any other country that I can think of.
Nothing to stop Libs bringing on a Bill. It would be supported by the Greens, Independents and Labor.
It was brought on because FreeTV wouldn’t.
@Pertinax – Seem to remember the same cry when cigarette ads were banned. Somehow I think they’ll survive without the insidious gambling ads.

  3. Not to be cynical but is this a desperate try to distract from the economy and boat people?

Also an attempt to trump the Collision who promised to do this when they get into power Sept 15.

  4. They will just be replaced with more beer and spirit ads.

The Networks have to get revenue from somewhere to pay off the billions they spent buying the rights to the NRL, AFL and cricket.
