Rumour: MasterChef premiere

What date is being whispered for the premiere of the next Masterchef season?

2013-05-12_2239There are whispers TEN could launch the next season of MasterChef on Sunday June 9, possibly off the back of The Biggest Loser finale.

When asked, TEN wouldn’t confirm or deny the date.

Time will tell I guess…

  1. Is Masterchef US coming to Ten? That will be good, as I read a lot of reviews that the judges in US are fairer and better then the one in Australia.

  2. Why would Masterchef do any better in September when Seven and Nine are battling it out with The X Factor, AGT, a bake off and a dating show and all the other stuff they can drag in from the US Fall season.

For the last 2 years that has created carnage as the nights are getting warmer, people are starting to watch less TV and are not interested in new TV shows and shows have failed left, right and centre.

Ten needs something ASAP. They can’t just sit out all Winter as things are an pray for a miracle later. They need a success to counter all the negative perceptions of the failures and to get some momentum and lead-ins to their dramas. The need a bigger share or they have will even less revenue in 2014.

If Masterchef can’t compete against two renovations shows that are going to do damage to each other, then what is the point of even making it?

  3. ive seen the promo for this season, omfg what the *** are channel 10 doing , this going to be the worst masterchef ever, glad the us version is starting soon.

  4. I think if 10 start it on time and don’t stuff it around too much it should be solid for them. Now that Offspring is almost back they will have eyes on their station so people will hopefully become reacquainted with it.

  5. I am looking forward to MC because it has always been high quality and the contestants are very diverse – unlike the Caucasian yuppies that appear on the Block and Big Brother.

As for a dating show – what makes me think that the cowboy in MCA is going to be ‘The Bachelor – Australia”?

He says he’s a bachelor from the outback in the promos and the promos for Bachelor show a silhouette of a man with a cowboy hat.

And he’s a very good looking fellow – who can cook too!

  6. Big mistake. This is going to be TBL all over again if they try to put it up against The Block/House Rules (and I actually enjoy MC so don’t want to see it cancelled on the back of poor numbers this year!)

They should hold off till August-September and launch against X-Factor/AGT.

  7. Given the promo’s I am not sure if it is a dating format or MasterChef. If it is the later it is the start of the end of this wonderful franchise.
