Yeah the accents got to me too. In the flashbacks when they in Russia, they all spoke English with a really stereotypical Russian accent, which is stupid enough to begin with, but then they go from that to arriving in the US with perfect American accents already. I know they probably couldn’t be bothered to have the actors speak in Russian for a pilot but you’d think they could have learned a few lines at least.
@wgh – The pilot for Breaking Bad remains the best pilot episode I’ve ever seen. In fact, The Americans models itself on Breaking Bad very closely (someone trying to carry out illegal activity under the noses of the cops – sound familiar?).
There’s one thing missing from The Americans – a sense of humour. It has no comic relief character to break the monotony. A laugh every now and again does wonders in a drama. And, it’s ridiculous when a slip of a girl like Keri Russell beats up a grown man bigger than she is. Other than that, The Americans is the best thing I’ve seen drama-wise for a long time.
Southern Cross Ten here in Canberra have not updated their Freeview EPG to reflect the programming change. Although I do want to see “The Americans”, the Network TEN Programming department in Sydney should put The Graham Norton Show on at a fixed timeslot and leave it be. I know the commercial TV networks are under a lot more pressure to keep and maintain audiences these days. However chopping and changing the timeslot for a program that has a healthy audience does not help them in the long run. MEMO Network TEN; if you want your viewers to go elsewhere (such as You Tube) to find the latest episodes of Graham Norton then keep on maintaining the status quo.
Love they are doing a replay but IMO it should have been on ONE in HD!
Thanks for that news David.
I can’t believe I forgot about it after all the advertising.
I’ve just gotten out of the habit of watching TEN on Mondays and I guess that’s part of TEN’s problem.
Seriously. If TEN can’t pick a timeslot for Graham Norton, stick to it, and keep up, then they should give it gratis to the ABC.
By my calculation they already owe us 4 episodes, which will be 5 come Sunday. (happy to be corrected on these numbers).

Fast-tracked?
@ wgh
Defintely not in the class of West Wing/ Sopranos/ Damages – not even close but still a reasonable show.
I still have to get used to gay Kevin from Brothers and Sisters as a family man and spy.
I wasn’t too impressed with the first episode. While it’s in a similar vein to Homeland, it doesn’t quite have the same finesse. And talking English in tacky Russian accents? I don’t think that’s how the soviets talked…
I cant remember seeing a better pilot episode of any drama. This show has the potential to be in the West Wing/Sopranos/Damages class. I was skeptical of the premise but i really enjoyed the way they pulled it together. And the leading actress has a brilliant coldness to her. Id be surprised if it was still on air in 5 weeks though given the pap that rates.
So, that means no Graham Norton or Hawaii Five-O this Sunday night?
would have been nice for them to replay Beauty and the Beast on 11 or something too.
@Josh4u92 – Yes, so typical of how commercial networks treat hit shows they poach from ABC and SBS.
What’s happening to graham Norton then? sick of them bumping it off and not showing it in
