The Voice rescheduling costs Nine the week

Ratings: Nine might well have won the week with 4 episodes of The Voice. But with 3.13m viewers, Seven's MKR claims victory.

2013 My Kitchen Rules Grand Final.Nine’s shenanigans with (mis)scheduling of The Voice has arguably cost it the week in ratings, with Seven taking another win.

If Nine had aired 4 episodes of The Voice, as it originally scheduled, it may very well have snatched the week from its rival. Instead the schedule turned out to be a red-herring designed to thwart the opposition. Nine still won the night, but by a much smaller margin than if it had aired its Reality juggernaut.

Seven’s My Kitchen Rules took 3.13m viewers for The Winner Announced -the biggest single audience of the year so far.

  1. agree with you there johnjet, i miss seeing lil old ladies eating dirt & kids injuring themselves while their parents film it lol. No really, i think the repeats could be hurting ratings, my epg on the pvr doesn’t always show what is a repeat or not so as a casual viewer of the Voice i don’t know whats first run or not. I am also over the constant overly loud promos for the show, i thought that was Ten’s thing.

  2. Lucky Ten have their “Super Sunday” and, er… “Terrific Tuesday”, otherwise they’d be 4th every night instead of just overall.

  3. Sad to see that TEN is still beaten by ABC. At least The Project has increased In viewers as it is well deserved. Unfortunately, the majority of the country are still hooked on Today Tonight and A Current Affair and they are missing out on current affair stories that are actually heart felt and worth watching (stories on teenage unemployment, Australian developments in the field of cancer, a motorcycle accident survivor who became fully paralysed having a child and meeting the man who rescued him and is responsible for his survival, and these are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head). I also agree that Nine’s coverage of the NRL is ridiculous, continuing to have 2 delayed games a week for the next 5 years will be the death of the game.

  4. Seven seems to be having problems with its ratings in Sydney this year. Whilst trying to fix problems in other cities it has created this problem. Seven needs to look after all its markets.

  5. Emurray- yes it seems stupid given that ch7 has AFL on in NRL states on a Sat night. The second Friday night game seems so wasteful, it’s too late for a lot of people and then you have a situation like last Fri where both states had the same game live anyway.

I wonder is there any scope for change in the new agreement ? Another 5 years of this bull$&@! …

  6. Wasn’t the problem that Channel 9 doesn’t have enough episodes filmed to run the show four nights a week?

Even if they had one extra episode available last week it would have left them with only 2 episodes for this week (if their production was for 3 episodes a week as believed).

  7. Saturday night also seems to be an issue for nine .. I really think they made a mistake not going for a Saturday night league match .. It would surely rate better than showing the second match on replay on Friday night
