Airdate: The Great Australian Bake Off

Nine has finally confirmed a date for The Great Australian Bake Off.

2013-06-25_1713Nine has finally confirmed a date for The Great Australian Bake Off.

Based on The Great British Bake Off, the show will launch at 8pm Tuesday July 9th.

This show has had so many scheduling delays I’m sure everyone involved is relieved it is finally going to air.

Set in the beautiful grounds of Werribee Mansion, The Great Australian Bake Off is hosted by Shane Jacobson, one of Australia’s favourite personalities, and home cook extraordinaire Anna Gare.

Ten top home baking enthusiasts will be put through a series of gruelling weekly elimination challenges, baking a mouth-watering selection of cakes, pies, tarts, pastries, bread, biscuits and desserts, in the hope of being crowned Australia’s Best Home Baker.

The contestants will need to impress two of the toughest judges in the business: Dan Lepard, an Australian- born baker and author, who is one of the world’s most widely read and highly respected bakers; and Kerry Vincent, dubbed the “Simon Cowell of cake”. Born and raised in Western Australia, Kerry is a self-taught designer who revolutionised the US wedding cake industry.

Each week, the contestants will have to prove they can deliver outstanding bakes in three increasingly difficult challenges based on a different baking theme – the Signature Bake, the Technical Bake and the Showstopper Bake.

The one who serves up the best dishes, displaying improvement and consistency, will be named Star Baker. At the end of each week the baker who has least impressed the judges will be eliminated from the competition.

  1. I am hoping this will be good. I think too much was made of Kerry Vincent being mean & from the ads she looks to be the weak link. Certainly better & more likeable than MKR

  2. So Nine have given it a date of Tuesday 9th July at 8pm. I suspect then it’ll premiere on Thursday 23rd July at 8.40pm (actually debuting at 8.55pm).

  3. I’m really looking forward to this. I don’t think Nine doesn’t have faith in this, they were just careful not to front load their schedule.

Nine are bringing out Hamish & Andy and Bakeoff to take on The Mole on Seven.

  4. Finally! But what if it doesn’t rate?
Bet it will be moved to another time slot within a fortnight or moved to GEM.
Obviously Nine don’t have much faith in this show or it would have aired by now.
