Hot tip: The Block finale

Psst. What's the date of Nine's finale for The Block?

2013-06-28_0025The Block will have its Sky High auction in South Melbourne on Saturday July 27th.

That logically means the show’s finale should take place Sunday July 28th.

Only once has Nine strayed from this pattern, having a Tuesday auction / Wednesday finale for its All Stars edition.

The Park Street building has been completed for several weeks (and it looks very good). Public inspections will take place on the weekend of July 13 / 14.

With the finale on a Sunday night there is every possibility that Underbelly: Squizzy could follow it, with Big Brother potentially on the Monday night.

Nine has also indicated Australia’s Got Talent as “coming to Sundays” so the show may well replace The Block in the family-friendly timeslot.

  1. I agree that they need to consider somewhere other than Sydney or Melbourne (or Bondi and St Kilda, both done twice). Since they got stung a few years back where no one made any money, they now seem to want to only create properties that can only be afforded by corporate real estate looking to house their 457 visa clients.

Who else is going to want to clean 5 bathrooms?
It’s not about creating affordable housing, that’s for sure.

  2. Glad I don’t watch The Block, what a long drawn out series it has been and from all the write ups it seems that other people feel the same, why do 9 have to drag programmes on and on and on or repeat, repeat and repeat everything, don’t they have any other shows that they can televise such a boring channel now, used to be my favourite channel but not any more.

  3. that makes sense, there are reports that 9 can’t start AGT any earlier because of the way 7’s contract with the show was written. i thought The Block was dragged forward to beat house rules, perhaps they didn’t think of what happens at the other end of the season and now have to drag it out to that date with filler so the auction can be a good leadin to AGT.
7 is promoting x factor a lot, they would be wise to start it the Monday before and get the jump on it to avoid another House Rules launch disaster.

  4. Wow. I am glad I watch House Rules, short sharp and to the point.
The Block Room reveals on Sunday are even getting tiresome as they recap drams from the previous week (that I deliberately wanted to miss!) I can'[t believe also that this will string out for another month. Note to Channel 9. Try not to flog a dead horse. I know you brought The Block back early to compete against the House Rules renovation show, but you did not leave much of a break between All Stars and Sky High. When people and critics compare the two shows, one is about Renovation and the other is a renovation show with challenges and personal dramas. Need to lift your game if you do another season. Also have you considered another state besides Sydney and Melbourne?
