  1. @The Moops:

“turns around and bags out this country saying he is “done here” and “can’t wait to go home”. So go, then and don’t bother coming back.”

He ‘bags out’ the media in this country. And on that point he is absolutely correct to, what a ridiculous ‘news’ story.

  2. Yes, it is illegal to possess cannabis, it is also illegal to jay-walk or ride a bicycle without a helmet.
I think most people are questioning the invasion of Joel’s privacy and if it is newsworthy.

If you need role models and are looking to the entertainment industry for them, your life is going to be full of disappointment.

As for Seal, whatever. He can take his patronising attitude back to wherever he calls home.
He had a few hits in the nineties and would have been forgotten long ago if it wasn’t for his relationship with Heidi Klum.

  3. Bottom line, it is illegal to possess cannabis in NSW, no matter how small the amount. No further argument, end of. The cleaners did the right thing in reporting it to management. Ultimately, I couldn’t care less about Joel’s dope smoking, I am more annoyed and upset at Seal’s Twitter rant. The spectacular offensiveness of it!! He’s here earning mega bucks, considerably raising his celebrity profile, having a very nice time in the ultimate corporate gig, then turns around and bags out this country saying he is “done here” and “can’t wait to go home”. So go, then and don’t bother coming back.

  4. I couldn’t care less if he uses marijuana or not. I am more concerned that “someone” who is employed by the hotel thinks it’s appropriate to snoop through the property of one of their guests! I doubt he’d have left it on the bedside table, so one can only assume that it an invasion of privacy took place in order to locate it. The staff member is the one who should be ejected from the hotel. And of course Seven’s execs must have peed their pants when they found this out.

  5. Seal posted a tweet defending Joel, saying ‘way to respect a guest in your country, way to make us feel welcome…. keep it up, we’ll be back next year and yes I do mean we’ and ‘I can’t wait to go home’.

Sounds like he doesn’t really like it in Australia!! I prefer The X Factor, that is a much better show

  6. Now that explains how he could praise every mediocre performance.
This is no big deal. This is why kids party like rock stars, take drugs, get overdose, and take up precious medical resources.

  7. Whatever way you paint it – It’s still Marijuana, It’s still illegal and it was found in his hotel room. What type of a role model is he? Oh yeah … another reality show person ….

Nine …. you must sack him for being a lousy role model for your audience ……….

  8. Agree that it is only a small amount but if it is illegal, then it is illegal, whether drugs, or binge drinking or anything else that can be harmful to the body especially with people in the public eye should not be tolerated.

  9. In my opinion the legal drug that is alcohol ruins far more lives than marijuana. 5 grams is nothing and it is obviously for personal use. I just hope 9 don’t go the moral high ground and make him publicly apologise or sack him.

  10. A phrase that includes the word “Sherlock” springs to mind.

I am not a supporter of recreational drug use in any way, but the Law really has to leave the harmless pot smokers alone.

He’s not being charged, so that’s good, but really it shouldn’t even be something that constitutes news. Marijuana ought to have the same level of significance as alcohol.

  11. I’m shocked…. shocked that marijuana was the hardest drug found. Not that I’m accusing Joel of anything, but I’d need something stronger than that to get me through The Voice.
I find this a bit grubby on Seven’s part. Hopefully their celebrities all lead a squeaky clean life.

  12. People are being bashed senseless on the streets of Sydney and police resources are being diverted to this sort of rubbish.

How about the police get out and catch the real criminals like those roaming the streets bashing people or drunk drivers rather than giving out cautions for 5g of possesion of marajuana.
