If she is upset at not being given the co-host chair on Sunrise, then Natalie Barr isn’t showing it.
“I never thought that Mel was going,” she has told the Daily Telegraph.
“And over the years people have asked me why I didn’t put my hand up for the job and truthfully I never have.
Despite having filled in numerous times for Doyle, many expected her to be the natural successor, but the role went to Weekend Sunrise‘s Samantha Armytage.
“I obviously thought about it … but I have never coveted that job,” she said.
“I love Sam. She’s very dry, I’m very dry … you’ve got to love dry.
“We get along really well. We’re both from country areas, but I am happiest presenting the news.”
Meanwhile, nobody is saying who will co-host Weekend Sunrise but possible names might include Monique Wright, Edwina Bartholomew and even Melbourne’s Rebecca Maddern.

Nat may have got me watching again. But Samantha? No way.
Well at least that story can be put to bed.
Monique wont do sunrise. She has 2 young children and is already doing the daily show 5 days a week.
Kellie would be good I reckon.
I’m all for Eddie Batholomew, what a match that would be, Wow! Eddie and Andrew together, it would definitely get me back to watching Weekend Sunrise, after being driven away by such a spoilt and out of touch little girl as Samantha Armytage.
Hopefully her move to to Sunrise will finally get rid of Her and Kochie, paving the way for Eddie and Andrew to eventually take Sunrise in the direction it needs to go.
I’m glad to hear that they at least asked her if she wanted the role. It would have been pretty slack if they hadn’t.
@DaveM it will surprise me if Jess Rowe gets the co-host job.
I guess if Nat replaced Mel who replaces Nat? Sam??
I would have given the co-host role to Kylie Gillies and move Sam to mornings or bring Kerri-Anne Kennerly in to join Larry.
Kellie Connolly has co-hosted Weekend Sunrise a few times so she might get the gig permanently.
I love Nat. She would have been great. Not sure who will front Weekend Sunrise…Monique just started that Daily Edition show, Eddy is the new weathergirl…Maybe they’ll just move Jess Rowe over from the news chair…
