King of the High Wire Nik Wallenda has become the first man to cross the Grand Canyon on a tightrope.
Wallenda crossed the canyon untethered in 22:54 minutes
With no safety net there was nothing below but a two inch wire and the Little Colorado River over 450 metres below.
For the entire duration of his walk Wallenda was praying to Jesus for the strength to make it and for high winds to calm the wire.
In 2012, Wallenda became the first person to tightrope walk directly over Niagara Falls from the U.S. to Canada at a height of 60 metres.
Discovery broadcast the walk Live to Australia. Wallenda even thanked the Discovery Channel “for believing in me.”
“It was way more windy…. ” he said.
“It took every bit of me to stay focussed the entire time.”

@glennc, you actually hoped to watch someone plunge to their death? Really?
Absolutely insane. There is no way I could have watched this as I would have been too fearful of him falling. How on earth he could have put his wife and family through the stess of this, I don’t know. Props to him, though, for an amazing achievement, just one I don’t have the stomach for!
You have no faith glennc the good lord will provide the parachute if and when its needed !
Am I the only person who watched hoping he’d fall?
