Oops. MasterChef cooks up promo copy from The Block.
Video: This MasterChef promo looks an awful lot like one by The Block.

It’s often Nine that are accused of cloning US promos, but this time the shoe is on TEN’s foot.
A promo for MasterChef this week couldn’t help but use the same piece of music already used by The Block.
Complete. With. Dramatic. Titles.
Wonder what ad-man turned TEN exec Russel Howcroft would make of that on Gruen Planet?

Mwahahahahaha!! Busted!!
Very common piece of music used in lots of movies/trailers, probably free or very cheap or part of some package of tunes licenced to some company that both 9 and 10 have in common.
I don’t think it’s a copy. And in fairness to Ten, having the worst dish in MC history is pretty big – so probably deserving of the titles. The Block’s promos are melodramatic all the time. And the background music during the actual show is generally ill-suited – they just throw in some top 40 because it’s current.
Masterchef used the same promo music last year for lots of it’s promo’s so really 9 has copied
eh… it’s just the same song… not really a rip off.
These sorts of promos would make me not want to watch, but I realise I’m not the target.
More irritating is the ‘who will disgrace their gender?’ bit… ugh.
I agree @Leppie, not the first or last time we’ll hear this music.
I wouldn’t call this a copy at all. Just standard episodic promo.
The MC promo has the end cut off just like each segment of programs on Ten’s catchup site.
lol
It’s also happening on the current promo for PTTR.
They’ve used the same music the Biggest Loser promos had for the launch when the orange team were walking onto the stage in the arena..
The Masterchef video is now from US series?
Pretty sure I hear this music on ads all the time?
Complete stupidity and zero creativity. With both promos
Im not seeing it, that seems like a fairly standard technique. Definitely not as jarringly similar to the ‘game on molls’-gate. Or the ‘who will rule’ ad (for masterchef.)
