2013-06-06_1129New Zealand chef Annabel Langbein returns with a second season of The Free Range Cook next month on LifeStyle FOOD channel.

In this 13-part series, Annabel reveals the pleasures of her free-range cooking style, with the breathtaking views of New Zealand’s Southern Alps as her backdrop. From the simplest of kitchens in her family’s lakeside cabin retreat, Annabel shows how easy it is to bring the joy of connecting with nature and sharing into today’s fast-paced world.

Annabel said: “Eating home-grown, home-cooked food is part of the way we live as a family today. It connects us, even if only in a small way, to the rhythms of nature.

“Wandering around my garden at the end of a busy day to find something to serve for our evening meal is incredibly satisfying. So, too, is the daily ritual of setting the table, lighting some candles and sitting down together to enjoy simple, freshly cooked food”.

The combination of her fresh, free-spirited approach and the gorgeous natural location creates a show in-tune with the growing desire to live a simpler life. Along the way, Annabel shares the secrets to creating sensational home-cooked food for very little effort and promises to make every viewer a star in their own kitchen.

Annabel’s passion for cooking and sharing food shines through in all facets of her life and career and this, combined with 20-years of honing her recipes for easy meals, has allowed her philosophy to resonate with viewers and readers worldwide. With 19 cookbooks under her belt, the New Zealander is the quintessential down-to-earth home cook with a conscience for sustainability and a Kiwi can-do attitude.

Annabel is uniquely qualified as a flag-bearer for the international sustainability movement and a foundation director of the Sustainability Council of New Zealand, having spent her early life living off the land, cooking over an open fire, trapping possums and jumping out of helicopters to recover live deer (both possums and wild deer are considered a danger to New Zealand native forests).
