  1. I agree wholeheartedly with tonyhar.

You have not addressed the issue of using the title of “Dr”.

To use this title on the 7pm news, is misleading.

    This was an honorary doctorate.

This title is seldom ever used unless a person wishes to “elevate” their status.

I’m sure Mr Yuthupingu would have been mortified at your use of this.

    Why has it been used?

    1. If you mean this site I use the TV titles that networks supply. Check NITV guide and you will see the listing as Dr. I’m a TV site, I run the TV titles networks supply rather than retitle them. If you mean something that was broadcast in the news you will need to take it up with the network concerned, thanks.

  2. Am a bit curious why NITV are showing the service, considering the indigenous sensitivities here.
I’m also wondering why you, and NITV, are using the “Dr” Yunupingu? It’s an honouray doctorate, awarded in 1998. I don’t recall any reference to the doctorate prefixing his name while he was alive. Kerry O’Brien has an Honourary Doctorate from the same University (QUT), so am now awaiting “Dr Kerry O’Brien presents 4 Corners”. Is it sensitivity tripping over itself?
Indian actor (Dr?) Amitabh Bachchan has one too, but that can wait for another day on a different blog.
(Dr) Philip Adams has four (from different states), but he works for the ABC, so there you go.
And of course, not forgetting our wonderful Governor General Quentin Bryce, who has managed to bag 5 of the buggers. A doctor to the power of 5.
Other Alumni: Dr Ruth Cracknell, Dr Slim Dusty, Dr Cathy Freeman, Dr Evonne Goolagong-Cawley, Dr Rolf Harris and not forgetting Dr Duke of Edinburgh.
