Hate the Block – would not buy one of those houses hacked together for drama’s sake on TV.

Congratulations to SBS, a channel I watch often, and to Australia for finally getting into Soccer, the world game. :-)

Can’t wait for the world cup next year SBS !

  2. Cam Reed June 19, 2013 at 12:43 pm -

So in Adelaide and Perth The Block rates poorly, will this anomaly change when Nine get ownership of the WIN affiliates in Adelaide and Perth off Bruce Gordon and become proper Nine Channels in the next year or so (or is Adelaide already under there control).

Be interesting to see how that all unfolds anyway.

  3. The Moops June 19, 2013 at 12:35 pm -

Don’t be surprised if HR continues to outrate The Block, now that the Voice has finished.

  4. mycreations June 19, 2013 at 12:01 pm -

Great achievement for House Rules but The Block will probably bounce back tonight.

  5. Sunny June 19, 2013 at 11:19 am -

House Rules only had slightly higher ratings because of the strange viewing habits in WA. In the eastern states where 85% of Australians live, the Block still rules. Another observation is that both reno shows ( which I hate both) only rated around 1.1 million, which is not all that high. Must be a lot of folk around with better things to do than watch television!

  6. frankly June 19, 2013 at 11:11 am -

Let’s say this could be the start of a new exciting TV era

  7. maxxdude June 19, 2013 at 10:59 am -

Don’t cheer too loud just yet. HR only beat The Block in Adelaide & Perth.
When it starts winning in the eastern states then celebrate.

  8. wwenrl June 19, 2013 at 10:46 am -

Haha! Yesss!! Thats a brilliant result for SBS and Foxtel! For the important Socceroos WCQ match.

  9. JB June 19, 2013 at 10:24 am -

Awesome. House Rules beating The Block. Wow, but well deserved. The better show won.

And more than 1 million for the World Cup qualifier on FTA, 1.7 million total. Excellent. Hope the A-League does well on Friday nights so soccer can get more coverage and more dollars from FTA networks.

  10. The Moops June 19, 2013 at 10:17 am -

Numbers for the Block in Perth and Adelaide are consistently pathetic. Good one that HR beat the Block overall, though I am not overly surprised as it is a superior format to The Block, it concentrates solely on the reno of the house with no idiotic challenges and the couples are much more likable. Well done to the Socceroos, off to their third consecutive World Cup, congratulations to them.

  11. jezza the first original one June 19, 2013 at 10:07 am -

    The Football (soccer)….yeah

    Ole Ole Ole Aussie Aussie…

The one code that transcends all the different cultures here in Oz and unites the nation. Well done to all

  12. mario June 19, 2013 at 10:05 am -

House Rules beating the block-very interesting!!
Prefer HR-a whole house in a week-doesn’t drag on and on. And more importantly, no continual product placement like on the Block. Turned me off!! Go channel 7!!

  13. simmo3 June 19, 2013 at 9:52 am -

look at the soccer ratings on fox sports and sbs… and house rules finally beats the block !

  14. daveinprogress June 19, 2013 at 9:49 am -

and Rafters narrowly misses falling under the magic million for the first time! Missed it by that much! The finale will probably see 1.5 million maybe more.

  15. David Knox June 19, 2013 at 9:38 am -

    Just wow……
