Airdate: Low Winter Sun

New US crime drama starring Mark Strong as a Detroit detective begins in late August.

2013-07-30_1248US drama Low Winter Sun will premiere in late August on FX.

Based upon a 2006 British mini-series this is written and executive produced by Chris Mundy (Criminal Minds, Cold Case), as a contemporary story of murder, deception, revenge and corruption in a world where the line between cops and criminals is blurred.

The 10 x 1 hour series begins with the murder of a cop by a fellow Detroit detective. Seemingly the perfect crime, in reality, the murder activates forces that will forever alter the detective’s life, and pull him into the heart of the Detroit underworld. The series is based on the 2006 award-winning British two-part mini-series of the same name and stars Mark Strong (Tinker, Tailor, Solider, Spy, Zero Dark Thirty) as Detroit detective Frank Agnew alongside co-star Lennie James (The Walking Dead, Hung, Jericho).

Filmed on location in Detroit, this gritty and provocative crime drama explores the city’s many contradictions, from its physical and spiritual decay to its survivors’ resilience. The series is a co-production between Endemol Studios and AMC Studios.

The series was originally scheduled for August 13 but will now debut Tuesday August 27 at 8.30pm on FX.
