Northern Pictures appoints Head of Production & Development

ABC's former Commissioning Editor for Science joins production company Northern Pictures.

5942bustling_john_st_cabramattaKarina Holden, ABC’s former Commissioning Editor for Science and Natural History has been appointed to the new role of Head of Production & Development at Northern Pictures.

Northern Pictures  has produced such titles as the Once Upon a Time in… franchise (pictured) for SBS and the four-part series on Kakadu for ABC.

Holden previously had a 10-year history in independent factual television production at companies including Southern Star, Becker Entertainment and Beyond International.

“Karina has a dynamic track record working in both the independent sector and within the national broadcaster and as such has developed a unique sensibility and understanding of the industry and its challenges,”  Managing Director Sue Clothier said.

“As Northern Pictures continues to expand out operations, with offices in Singapore, Beijing, New Zealand and Washington, Karina’s vital role is to drive blue chip programming for the international marketplace.”

Whilst at the ABC her slate included programming from the Life series, Australia: the Time Traveller’s Guide, Making Couples Happy, Desert War, Shark Girl, Super Predator, Redesign My Brain, Stone Age Mystery, First Footprints, Kakadu, Hello Birdy, Two Men in China and The Outlaw: Michael Howe.
