2013-08-27_2151SBS 2 will air the 3 part zombie series from the UK, In the Flesh.

This is a fresh and original zombie series that is definitely worth a look if the genre interests you. It doesn’t have the budget of The Walking Dead, but it’s all about the story.

In the Flesh is an exciting new three-part drama which explores a post-zombie-uprising, but this time from a zombie’s perspective. With more on its bones than flesh eating monsters, the series uses themes of fear, small mindedness, and intolerance to turn this much-loved genre on its head.

The Human Volunteer Force (HVF) has quelled a zombie uprising, and the surviving zombies have been gathered and medicated so they can return to their (mostly) human lives. The story follows 17 year old Kieren Walker who is a PDS (Partially Deceased Syndrome) sufferer haunted by what he has done before his treatment. He is deemed ready to be reintegrated into the local community and returned to his home in the village of Roarton. Despite being given some make-up and contact
lenses to help disguise his dreadful appearance and a government issued act prohibiting violence against former undead people, not all of his friends and family are so willing to forgive and forget.

Episode One
When Kieren Walker returns home, his parents are pleased to see him, but his sister isn’t so ready to pick up where they left off. Meanwhile, the zombie-hating Human Volunteer Force is ready to take action against any PDS sufferer found on their patch. The government has set an agenda of acceptance, but anti-rotter sentiment exists and is gathering support, especially within the church.

Tuesday, 10 September at 8.35pm on SBS 2
