Been there, done that says Shazza.

An 8 year age gap between Sharon and Big Brother contestants was enough to weary the mother of 3.

2013-08-15_2347Evicted Big Brother housemate concedes that the age gap between herself and other housemates left her feeling frequently apathetic about interacting with others.

The 41 year old mother of three was at least 8 years senior to her other housemates

“Most of my friends are early 20s and we get along fine,” she told TV Tonight.

“But it’s a little different when you are living with them and they are very big personalities and they are lot younger and crazy. There were times when I just couldn’t be bothered. Been there, done that.”

Housemates nominated her for eviction by saying she had been holding back.

“Looking back now I loved the experience. In a way I was maybe a little bit younger to appreciate it and go nuts. But it was a little bit hard being the mature housemate. I always felt like I had to watch what I did and say because of my kids,” she said.

“You have to find the right mix and the longer I’d have been in there I would have found it.”

Currently in the midst of publicity commitments (including The Footy Show last night) she’s pragmatic about her remaining colleagues.

“I’ll see them soon, but I’m not going to be friends with all of them, I can tell you that right now. You’re all lovey-dovey in the house but realistically you’re not going to keep in contact with all of them. There’s a handful that I will, so I look forward to that.”

Sharon also maintains that the ‘halfway house’ was every bit as bad as it looks on TV.

“It was pretty bad. The sleeping conditions weren’t the best. The showers were outside and we still had warm water but you want to go in to the BB house and live it up.

“I didn’t care about the living conditions. I didn’t enjoy it but I embraced it for what it was. At the end of the day I think I’ve learned a lot more about myself which is one of the reasons why I wanted to go in.”

Was she conscious of the cameras filming her the whole time?

“Not at all. You just forget all about it as soon as you walk in. You know that they’re there and there are times you might look off into the distance at them but you’re not conscious of acting up in front of them. I wasn’t any way,” she says.

“You might hear some noise going on but no, you’re oblivious to it all. That’s one thing that really surprised me.”

Despite being the first evictee, Sharon appeared pretty together when she walked onto the eviction stage on Monday night.

“Maybe it’s my maturity. I did feel a sense of calm once I got evicted. It was weird. I was upset but excited because it was a win / win for me. I got to experience this great opportunity and now I can share it with my kids. They keep me stable and grounded.”

Sharon had previously applied as a contestant on Amazing Race but it was Big Brother that proved successful.

“I watched it last year with my son and I applied 8 years ago when … I was single but obviously I wasn’t what they were looking for.

“I always wanted Big Brother. I don’t know why.”

And while Reality TV often gets a bad rap she remains supportive of the production and crew.

“The whole BB team have been fantastic and positive, having each housemate’s best interests at heart. They were wonderful with my family and kids, and I feel really secure with them. I said to Alex, ‘You’re going to be with me, you’re going to be with me.’ It was a sense of security,” she said.

“I wouldn’t change a thing. Loved every minute of it.”

  1. Sharon said ‘I always felt like I had to watch what I did and say because of my kids’. Well you’re not going to get much airtime if you can’t let loose (like Tim). Maybe they could send in an older woman (without kids) who could be a friend to Mikkayla so we can say bye to Tully.

  2. my sentiments exactly, Carole and billbeast. I liked Tully at first, or at least what I thought I saw. She is such a negativr nelly, and the producers are sure showing us her moodyness. I really like Xavier. I hope he stays a while.

  3. Disappointed Sharon left, and there is no doubt in my mind the 70 votes I sent in to save Jasmin are the reason Jasmin isn’t gone. I really hope Tully goes this week. Cannot stand the sook
